When greeting people in swahili say "Habari" this the most formal. But commonly especially teens, twenties and some thirties Prefer to greet each other by saying "Mambo". If one greets by saying "Habari" you should reply by saying "Njema" if you are fine or "Sinjema" if you unwell. If one greets by saying "Mambo" reply to them by saying "Poa" to means cool if you are not feeling good just say "Mambo sio mazuri"
