There isn't enough space to list all the differences, but keep in mind that the Chamorros were heavily influenced by Spanish culture for 400 years before becoming affliated with the U.S. Chuukese have been influenced by a series of occupiers with the most prominent being Japan and then the U.S. for the last 50 years. The Chamarros can appear to be fully westernized but still hold on to many traditional values. Their egos are easily bruised and this can lead to many misunderstandings. Chuukese will do and say things to make sure you are not offended, although they do not mean any of it. So if you ask a taxi driver, "Do you know how to get to ...", they may say "yes". But, they have no idea what you said or where the place is. People on the main island understand the most amount of English, but do not assume everything you say is comprehended.
