purchase euros prior to travel

Where is an economical place to purchase euros prior to travel? I have checked with AAA and they basically will charge $100 for $1000 worth of euros.. I will be traveling to Ireland in May

hi,I would not.

Trying to predict the future value of the dollar versus the Euro is generally an exercise in futility

What I would do (and am doing myself with regard to future travel to Europe) is try to book your hotel rooms in U.S. dollars now to lock in a maximum price. Depending on where you plan to visit in Europe, you might still be able to save a good chunk of change by using Priceline to secure your hotel rooms at a fixed (prepaid) cost in dollars.

good luck
