Answer by Vegard Johansen on Friday, 11 March 2011 Hi! @Corentin: The ferry between Gryllefjord and Andenes is only running in summer (late May to late August). This year’s time table is available here: I’m afraid there is no other way to cross the sea. Look for routes by car in Google Maps. @Judith: In Gryllefjord, there is only one option, “Kaikanten”. Check out their web pages: http://www.kaikanten.org/english.htm In Torsken, 7 kilometres from Gryllefjord, you will find “Eidebrygga”: “Hamn i Senja” is situated 17 kilometres from Gryllefjord: If any of you have further questions, don’t hesitate asking me! I’ll promise to keep an eye on this thread ;-) Kind regards, |

Answer by Liz Boyd on Monday, 02 May 2011 Vegard, just the one! We are hoping to drive around Senja. What accommodation is available and can we hire bikes. What do you do in Gryllefjord? |

Answer by Vegard Johansen on Friday, 06 May 2011 Hi Liz! For accommodation near Gryllefjord (some of them, at least) take a look at my post above, it should be up to date. “Hamn i Senja” is near Gryllefjord, and is very popular. I don’t think they have bikes for rent, but I think they offer kayaks, as well as boat trips. Probably diving too. Everything is new and modern (rebuilt and finished 2008), and is located in marvelous nature. Kaikanten in Gryllefjord offers boats for hire too (with or without a guide, I suppose) if you want to go fishing. In addition, Senja in general has fantastic nature, and perhaps a mountain walk may be in your interest? Take a look at the websites of “Hamn i Senja” for their recommendation of activities and facilities. I’m sure you want to visit Senjatrollet when you are on Senja: And, have a look at http://www.senjafergene.no/index-en.htm for the time schedule of the ferries to and from Senja. What I do in Gryllefjord? Well… Good question. I’m from Gryllefjord, so I have lived here more or less all my life. In the last few years, I have only lived here in the weekends and holidays, since I’m studying. If I can help you with more information, just leave a message – I will continue to keep an eye on this thread, and I will be glad to help! Kind regards, |
