Le lizard rouge
Posted by Mike Harrington on Wednesday, 21 January 2009
I travelled on the “Red Lizard” train in December 2008. There were signs that the rails/sleepers had been relayed over quite long stretches of track. However, as a layman it appeared to me that the ballast was poorly packed around the sleeper shoulders leaving the track vulnerable to lateral movement and hence possible derailment of the train.

Answer by Brian Hewland on Monday, 27 April 2009 I travelled on the “Red Lizard” train at Metlaoui last week. Get there early as the carriages were packed with tourists an hour before we left the station. The scenery was great but then the train broke down a mile from the end of the line so we were stranded for over an hour waiting for another diesel engine to take us back to the station. I have now nicknamed it the “Dead Lizard”! |
